Introduction to Bronze Casting
Learn the art of lost-wax bronze casting in this hands-on, eight-week class, with individual guidance throughout the process. Held on Monday evenings, the class introduces the craft of working in wax, creating molds, and investing sculptures in shell or plaster before moving on to metal pours.
Given the time available for learning, projects will be small sculptures or parts. Larger pours may be offered in a future intermediate class, which may involve welding and more intricate molding techniques.
December and January sessions are now open for booking. Please use the contact form below.

Introduction to pattern-weld billet making
Pattern-welded steel is prized for its beauty and durability. In this hands-on class, you’ll explore the art of pattern crafting by forge-welding different steels and shaping them into a billet. Through guided, step-by-step instruction and individual attention, you’ll learn how patterns such as San-Mai, ladder, raindrop, and twist are created by combining steels with different properties and manipulating the metal to reveal their variations after acid etching.
The class focuses on making an initial billet and forming simple patterns. It does not include shaping a knife, which requires significantly more time. With the right basic equipment, you can continue the process at home. I hope to add a blade-forming class in the future. The techniques are straightforward to teach, but completing a blade takes time.
December and January dates are now open for booking. Please use the contact form below.
